The West Shore At Thornhill

The new owners of the former Thornhill School on the Culmore Road, which many believe was the inspiration for the hit Channel 4 programme Derry Girls, are delighted to announce that Derry City and Strabane Council have recently granted full planning approval for the proposed redevelopment of the redundant school site.

This decision by the Council Staff and Planning Committee will now allow the owners to proceed with confidence towards the commencement of works on this beautiful and historic site, situated on the banks of the River Foyle on the maritime gateway to the city.

The project will involve the careful and sympathetic landscaping of the site and the construction of a superb residential development targeted exclusively to the over 55 market.

The owners are very excited by this good news and now look forward to the next stage of delivering a unique and high-quality residential development on this spectacular site.

The owners would like to thank the staff at Derry City and Strabane District Council, The Councillors and their professional team and the many other people involved for their efforts and input and assistance in helping to bring this wonderful project to fruition.
